Bearded dragon's or savana moniter?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i didn't know i had to use mercury vapor bulbs i was going to use regular heat lamp bulbs like they use in a chicken coop to hatch the eggs. they put off alot of heat and i have a friend who uses them on his bearded dragon's.

well you need them for uvb, if you used tube lights they wouldnt penetrate far enough and your animals would not be healthy

i would get a nile monitor but your koi might get chewed up they love water

2 points - If the beardies go for a swim they most likely will crap in the water so your fish might not cope too well
- Being inexperienced and getting big monitors is asking for trouble. The potential for a monitor to inflict serious damage is significant (things like severed tendons and nerves are very real possibilities)

i have handled large lizard's before and like i said i planned on getting a 40 gallon breeder tank for then before i put them in the larger tank. So i would be able to let them grow from babies and learn how to handle them properly and everything before they get to large.

and a nile moniter would be good if they love water i just wouldn't get koi i would just get feeder goldfish that he could eat, it would be a little less feeding.

dont get a nile, you cage is not nearly large enough. and they could cause serious damage with their teeth and tail
do research please and find what animal best fits you

Just reading your posts I think it sounds like you need to gain ALOT of experience before tackling something like this. Get your self a couple beardies and a 40 breeder and work with them for a while. Trust me. And if you still really want to get into monitors I strongly suggest finding someone who has adults and knows what they are doing and going over and working with theirs. I used to have people come over and work with my black throats all the time and they were puppy tame but most people would change their minds after seeing my 30 lb monsters.

I miss them.....

well i think screw what everbody else says and get a anaconda
you are well trained because you handeld a lizard once :)

jk i would just start simple and get a normal tank and keep a bearded for a few years first
