Hi guys some of you may have been reading some previous threads about my henlei. All is good i am posting a before picture and after picture. This particular male was 5 1/2" when i got him and very thin & weak.He was starting the death curl and against what most of you recommended i gave him a salinity shock or a salt bath for about 15 minutes.Within 12 hours of this salt bath he was eating everything in his path. Now he is pushing 7" in only little over a month now.He in my experience was a for sure death, but defied expectations and is now the biggest of the 4 pups.He is the friendlest of rays now.He will hand feed ,let me pick him up he just doesnt care and best of all he eats about 5-6 chopped up store grade shrimp and a few pellets a day.

I started to doubt that this treatment worked but i again got very brave and tested in on another ray that was in very bad shape and didnt eat for over 2 weeks. This ray was in good shape when recieved unlike the henlei she wasnt thin and beat up.The only thing i couldnt get it to eat.It started to get very thin and things were not good so i repeated this process only i did not treat the tank with salt only the ray in the form of a salt bath or salinity shock for about 15 minutes.Aside from all of this the ray didnt eat since it was in thialand so probably over 3 weeks no food what so ever. After the salt bath i released the ray back into the main tank. This time the feeding wasnt instant it took about day and a half and she was eating pellets only. She wouldnt except earthworms or shrimp. Now this ray eats 8 shrimp at least and 10-15 pellets a day and is very fat.

I didnt start this thread to get criticized but to maybe get some insight from experts and maybe on what happened. These rays were not just going through the process of adjusting they were going to die and i thought that this process would have stressed them out but it infact did the opposite and better.

I'd like to know more about this miracle cure......

Just chuck a ray into saltwater for 15 minutes and they're cured?

So after this marine baptism they begin eating like pigs in a half day?

Sounds simple enough. Would love to hear HOW this cures them though.

We'll have to see if this actually works. I've got a non eating ray right now, once I get things organised, I'll be trying it with a 4-5 pound per 100 gallon ratio in a 5 gallon bucket. 15 minutes later, and we'll have our results.

I too have one that's been a flakey eater. This is why I'm so curious.

I've heard of people using 4-5lbs/100 gallons in tanks for weeks. I thought this dip would be much more potent like straight saltwater (1.020)

straight salt water i made it very salty both times i did this.Watch the ray the whole time just to make sure you dont kill it,the water has to be like salt water 10 minutes should do it than leave the lights off in the tank.I used a 5 gallon bucket and watched the whole time they didnt even seem to mind it.and these rays went straight back into the tank with other rays so it was competeing for food within a day or two.

the first time i did it my tank had 3 lbs of salt per 100 gallons before i dipped the ray in the salt bath. The second time i had no salt in the tank so it went from fresh water to pure salt water. The results were quicker the with the first ray.
