Birchirs all the way!!!!! they never die. mine came out of the overflow box and I found it about 20 feet away from my tank and it's still alive and thriving.

either a male jag or a midas. Midas are great wet pets and monsters. Jags just have the look of a predator though

bichir are nice particularly if you want other fish, ime they do well with anything they cant fit in their mouths so down the line you can fairly easily find compatable tankmates... noones asked but what are the exact dimensions of the tank?

imo do your reasearch and get what you want... if you dont want a fish but its easy your just not going to be happy.... get what you want to get in respects to your available space. once you understand how basic fishkeeping works ( sounds like you do ) dont be afraid to learn more. know what your getting into, and take the plunge. you'll never keep what you want if you dont try.

tell me the consequences of keeping a jardini in a 135 gal for life.

Its not a matter of will it merely survive in a 135G, coz i dont doubt with enough filtration and food it would most likely survive, but put the same fish in a larger tank with adequate filtration etc and i believe it would thrive...

Sorry to the OP for derailing... But depending in what your looking for i still say puffers are some of the best wet pets...

I like knifefish, they dont have ahudge price tag and are pretty simple to take care of. Only downside is that they are mainly nocturnal, so they tend to be a little inactive during the day. The birchers suhhested are another good idea, or even the oscar.

You could probably do one Oscar and a handful of bichirs that are too big for the Oscar, ornates endlis, large delhizi, all good choices. Could do 1 Oscar, 3 bichirs, and a festherfn synodontis, that'd be a neat tank

Yea a 135 for a fish that regularly tops out over 20 inches and isnt that flexible sounds right... Come on you cant be serious

So you can't keep a jar in a tank like that. I thought they were just like the silver aros but they are more aggressive and stay around -24".

Lima shovelnose are pretty cool and easy to get to eat frozen foods, jack dempseys are pretty cool, sun catfish, bichirs, or cichla ocellaris are all good choices. It just depends on what your into. Like if your into really aggressive then I'd go wolf fish or payara scomberiodes. But if your into pretty but large, then go with cichlids. It just depends how devoted you are and your preferences.

He said the tank is around 6x2x2. Another person said that it would be more than 135 gallons at those dimensions, so it could very well be more capacity than I'm planning for which is ok.

I liked the Midas for the color, and I do like the bichir, can those two be housed together?
