Beginning of a New Fishroom

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Judging from your photos, the basement looks unfinished. Any idea on how to deal with the humidity issue? I am also abit concern about the bricks the stand is sitting on? Any idea what the compressive strength is for those bricks? I would rather use metal plates to help distribute the weight instead.

Planted last night with trimmings from other tanks and the first bit of livestock added.... Some mystery snails. Today more planting. Fish in at the end of the week... Also acquired some new discus for the breeding project

Wow. The setup looks great!

Exactly what I was thinking of doing w/my 10 x 20ft workshop. How's the noise with 9 drains going, as my neighbors are VERY close to the workshop!
Looks aces, well done. Store bought bulkheads or DIY?

So, after about a week or so of cycling the system with seasoned bio-pads from other well established tanks I was ready to put my first fish into the system... Last night i put in 8 Blue Gene Jack Dempseys... They were skittish at first but seemed right at home... I began a log as well. i hope to keep it detailed and up to date and will post it if I can keep up with it...

we organized and labeled all the tubing and wiring for trouble shooting purposes and for that clean look... Also each tank has a shut off valve in case of infection of any unwanteds...

I put 5 BGJDs into tank 1 and 3 into tank 4 (the top row).. They are about 8 months old. This morning they look awesome!!! Healthy, attentive, hungry, and with excellent coloration!!! So I am excited to put more fish into the system! I will spread the depmseys into different tanks and hand pick the females I want to breed with our 3 EBJD's.. I will put 6-10 BGJD females in with 1 male EBJD per tank.. Then thin them down as neccessary.

The middle row of tanks will be for a breeding pair of chocolate angels, Breeding pair of Red Dragon Discus (who already have free swimmers), and another pair of Discus that have just paired off but havent spawned... The bottom row will be reserved for any fry... we also will be picking up another rack of tanks just like the one we purchased already!!!! More room for more fish!!!
