Hmm. Decisions, decisions. I like the Oscars, but they do take up some space. I'm not sure I could provide enough space for a big tank for one.

Exodon school if the tank is gona be 30+ gals or pair of convicts if its going to be 20-30 gallon tank. In my opion a 20 gallong long is ample space for a pair of convicts so long as its filtered well.

Senegal bichirs should do fine in a 60. The wider the tank the better.

a 55 would be a nice enough size to house an oscar
Yeah right, you do realize that O's can get to well over a foot in length in just a few years right? :screwy: The absolute minimum to properly house an adult oscar would be a standard 100 gallon. To the OP, stay away from O's and other medium-large fish, the biggest fish you could put in a 60 gallon would probably be a severum (depending on tank dimensions) which gets to about 12".

Oscars are great but you have to watch out for HIH (Hole in Head Disease) You need to become well educated on the disease and how to prevent it before keeping them. I made this mistake and Its leading my 14 inch Oscar to death. :( I have put hundreds of dollars trying to get rid of it and its very hard, but has been done. I'm just not having much luck with it though. I just wish I knew more about keeping them so I could have prevented it. And i would hate for a fellow fish begging fish keeper to go through the same.

Oscars can do ok in a min of 75gals. Everyone has there own preference for it. But you will need good filtrtion to prevent HITH and you need to feed him well.
