Best canister filter and why...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ive heard a lot of negative about everything but eheim. i have 4 fluval 404 filters. i rotate cleaning them. priming is almost too easy if you do it right. cleaning is simple too, however i havent tried any of the other canister filters so i have nothing to compare to. my water stays very clean however i do change water every 3 to 5 days.. i think they run very quiet even if you have two or three running. im happy.

get a eheim your tank you can get quite a cheap one like a 2217 but go the full hog get 2322 EHEIM FRESHWATER THERMO FILTER has heating elements and thermostats inside it Suitable for Freshwater ONLY saves on heater and keeps it out of tank

I seem like the only one, but I'll say it anyway. I absolutly hated my two magnums. They suck big time. I finally got rid of those.
Why did you hate yours. I had my magnum 350 since 1989. The only things that needed replacement were the gaskets and o-rings but that's typical wear and tear. The hoses also stiffen, but that's typical also.

Other than that, it is still running as quiet and strong since day one (16 years ago) .

Fluval...forever. My 404 on my piranha tank impressed me mucho, so I put a 304 on my sw tank. No problems with either of them, and priming isn't as bad as people would have you think.
