I have a 50 gallon aquarium and would like to put some type of cichlid in it. Preferebly one with bright colors and could be in there for life. I like green terrors. It is a gravel bottom and could be a one fish tank or maybe a community. But I was hoping for one centerpiece fish that is big and colorful. Thanks guys!

What's your definition of big? With a fifty gallon, I wouldn't go anything bigger than a Dempsey.

Based on you wanting a "larger" fish, I'd recommend: salvini, Dempsey, acara, firemouth, pumpkinseed sunfish
Personally, for a 50gal, I'd go with smaller specimens like rams or smaller Africans

No, red devils and oscars easily exceed 12" and are fast and agressive and will injure themselves in a 50. My oscars 13" and still injures himself from time to time in my 120.

Oscars, Labiatus, Midas, Motaguense pair, Salvini pair

No way

only one in that list that would work would be salvini. You could do one of the following

Severum, Carpintis, Green Terror

You would do better to go with smaller cichlids like Pair of convicts, Firemouth, Accara, Honduran Red Points, Sajica. They will be happier and therefor have more personality.
