With the problems your having, I think you should buy 2 liters of purigen. And use one of the canisters for just purigen. With 2liters you can keep a liter in the canister and have a liter on stand by. While recharge is going on.
 
Yeah, I was planing to buy some Purigen in addition to the plants. Instead of putting it in my canister though, I'd feel more comfortable just putting it on a HOB or on the sump just because it's easier for me to see if it's already brown. That still works, right?

Okay so after trying to figure out what I need to buy, I finally came up with this list:

1x Overflow - Eshopps PF-800 (Rated 800 GPH)
1x Return Pump - Rio Plus Aqua Pump 2500 (Rated 850 GPH but has a ball valve)
1x Purigen 2L
1x Eshopps 7" Filter Bag (200 microns)
2x Eshopps 6ft x 1" ID Flex Hose
1x Overflow UTube 1-1/4" OD (I was thinking of using this for the return line so I can connect the flexi hose here and have a 'nozzle' inside the tank. Would that work?)
1x Ball Valve 1" (For the overflow line? Since the return pump has it's own control valve)

Suggestions/recommendations/opinions please? I'm trying to keep it under budget but if you think something won't work, please feel free to let me know.
 
You can definately do a dyi, the wetdry I linked to your thread from you tube is only one style ans an efficient one, but you can check youtube for some other vids that can exept the refugium or just use the 10 I tend to go crazy with my tanks dont wanna sway you from your original ideas.

My friend got an awsome pond pump at harbor frieght 2500 gal hr to 25' for 100 with unlimited 2 year warranty he said they had all sizes and was the cheapest he found, im gonna throw sump filter into the cl app if I find a good deal before you spend money Ill let you know

Thanks! I'll give those a call later. I also just downloaded the CL app on my phone.... I just need to stay away from searching for new tanks. :nilly:

In the meantime, I already bought 2L of Purigen. Hopefully that helps.
