best food for cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I prefer New Life as well and have been using it for years now. If you wish to change up the food for your fish you can still do it with just New life as there are different mixes available in the product line. Try feeding cichlid, or all purpose, or growth, or Cichlasoma, of course it depends on the size of the fish, but I just use NL now with a mix of frozen or live food.

Wardley's cichlid pellets...

NLS

I feed all of the above plus some. I just wish I could get my fish from being so picky about certain foods. I use a ton of frozen foods as treats and live earthworms and mill worms too.

Well Obviously "Cichlid" WAY too vague...you are taking about thousands of different fish from different continients, different environments and so on. But in general, with south and central americans, I've been most sucessful with high quality pellets as a staple (I like Omega One, personally), and a wide variety of meaty treats. With african Mbunas, I like Omega One veggie flakes as a staple with some fresh veggies and mysis shrimp a few times a week.

The best food for all fish is a varied diet. Different foods have differing nutritional values.

Heh..

Another New Life Spectrum fan here...

Besides... KRILL is the first ingredient in the Thera A+ (large) formula which I use... so more or less that just says alot right there. :)

DAINICHI!!!! just started useing it about 6 weeks ago... my fish love it way more than NLS...

I use Ultima 1mm pellets and a mixture of ultima 1mm and Primarily krill ( They love this stuff more than a fat kid loves mcdonalds breakfast).

the ultima is awesome for SA and CA cichlids... really brings out the blues... and the primarily krill bring outs the vibrant reds in my devils

its doesnt stink up the water like NLS.... my only complaint is that it clouds sligtly but that goes away after a few mins after all the food is consumed
