Best Heaters as of Today - Don't let us down MFK!

Wow it amazes me so many people still use the in tank heaters. My first choice in heater is my Hydor ETH 300watt heater that is in-line with my canisters. Holds the temp perfect and I dont have to worry about fish burning themselves or my large fish breaking them. Give the tank a much more clutter free natural look. I use two of these on my 120g.

My second choice would be the Rena since it can also double as the intake for a canister and still give a nice clutter free look.

Another vote for ebo jager. Bought a stealth heater but it died on me :(

I got some jager going on 6 years no problems.

I think I have a solution!

Basically, get an Aquarium Power Timer. It switches on an outlet based on intervals that you set. Get one timer, and two heaters. Alternate them every 3 hours. That way, one heater is on for 3 hours, and then another is on for 3 hours.

You decrease the chances of cooking your fish. Any thoughts?

easier to just use several underpowered heaters for the tank, where one of them alone, even if it was constantly on could not send the temperature too high for the fish

The owner at my LFS didn't recommend this, he said that the small heaters would have to work really hard to maintain the heat-- meaning that it would stress the heater and it would fail quicker.

would the hydor work in-line with the hose of a fluval 405?
