Best Pellet Food for Stingrays - Part Deux

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
btw before anyone comments that the krill is much more expensive than buying shrimp, i disagree for 2 reasons
1) no waste, does anyone weigh the shells and tails that are thrown out to determine the true "price" per pound of usable food.
2) no mess and no prep.

Entertainment is always needed at work, too bad they track my usage, So far I like the nls/massivore mix I buy from kens 100.00 at a time for free shipping. Best find for myself so far, well other then the Asian market 3.99 per pound of large shrimp.

Try out some of the cheaper alternatives that I listed. All of my rays and fish devour all of these pellets. Probably too fat!!!

I feed fish and shrimp and other things as treats from time to time, but pellets offer more variety and come out cheaper and it's much easier to feed them a scoop of pellets!

I can't believe you think krill is cheaper!!!! LOL just kiddin... I will say that my rays eat the entire shrimp (I buy headless, deveined). When I need to cut it to feed smaller rays/fish I still throw the shell into the big tank. The dats/aros/rays love the shell, too! No mess.

It took some time but the kens stuff get's mowed down!
The HBH super soft & moist is a bigger hit though and at first it's messy but after they get use it there's minimal amount of waste.

Biggest thing is there is ZERO stank compared to massivore.

Also, I agree that Krill is nicer to feed than MP.

I would say krill is more expensive but that's just around here maybe not where your located, my one female grew huge on massivore over a months time once she got onto it. But I hate the smell, but I like the food results and most of my rays love the stuff. Now if my other really picky female would get hooked and grow huge I would be super happy. Some rays just hold out forever.

Also depends on if your picky to work a little and take the shells and tails off, look online for an Asian market that's where I found same.quality as other stores but half price, yea I have to remove the shells but I'm like a pro now, 3.5 pounds 14.00 keeps all the rays happy. And my food bill down, but you don't have a bunch of rays yet so your still good for a little, wait till you get a bunch of them and they can eat 1/2 a pound or more a day. Ahh I still want more rays. Lol

Krill isnt cheaper.. but i think i get 3.5 lbs for 30 bucks and shrimp unless i am diligent is around 6.99 a pund.

I hat e the smell of massivore but love the results!

Anyone try the hbh shrimp pellets??
Or kens shrimp sticks?
Darn picky female still isn't eating any pellets but loves shrimp.

Maybe ill try the premium catfish sticks next as well but they are expensive massivore cost. Maybe just the standard catfish food.
