Best Pellet Food for Stingrays - Part Deux

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
btw before anyone comments that the krill is much more expensive than buying shrimp, i disagree for 2 reasons
1) no waste, does anyone weigh the shells and tails that are thrown out to determine the true "price" per pound of usable food.

The tails and shells provide calcium. I use everything-including heads, legs and antenna's! The same way wild rays eat freshwater shrimp.

New mix:

2 cups Hikari Sinking Cichlid Gold Pellets
1 lb (a bit over 2 cups) Ken's Premium Sinking Krill Pellet (6.0 mm)
1/2 lb (a bit over a cup) Ken's Premium 5 Stick Blend
1 cup NLS There+A Jumbo Sinking Pellets (6 mm)
1/3 cup Hikari Sturgeon Pellets (medium)
1/3 cup Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets

Going on the cheap and the rays are still eating like crazy... more Ken's cichlid, less Hikari. Especially since the sturgeon is impossible to find now. Just one 4.4 lb bag left and I'm out :( And, the carnivore is super expensive.

I mix my pellets in one big tub

2.2lbs of massivore
3.0lbs of hikari sinking cichlid gold med size pellets
4.4lbs hikari sturgeon which is the near same as sinking carnivore

It lasts about 4-6 weeks

Hikari has stopped selling sturgeon in the UK they not enough demand but we all know that's rubbish

Don't buy any sturgeon now in the UK as it will def be out of date

The sturgeon mini is a waste of time as it no bigger than tetra prima

I was lucky I found a 10kg 22lb drum of sturgeon med size at a giver way price of £45 including p&p

I don't know what I'm going to do when that runs out

I have tried nt labs sturgeon but my rays won't eat it

Great variety. Sounds like a complete mix.

POOF!

Which pellet leaves the least mess behind? When I feed massivore it seams that bc they chomp on it and break it up before they eat it that it clouds my water a bit and then there is always leftover sediment in the sand...is any one pellet cleaner than the other? I'm currently feeding shrimp, tilapia, and worms just for cloudiness of the water. I want to feed pellet on a daily but that problem still troubles me. Thanks guys
