i've heard poeple using moon rock, but i've never seem what it looks like.

are there no geologists on MFK?

Are there any lava rocks that should be used with salt water asa base rock? I really think it is just a different type of lava rock.

if it's either of these it's perfectly safe. it's bascially what the LR and sand are made of.

Well I just put it in with some Fiji live rock I just purchased and it looks
great. I also just purchased 50 pounds of some (what appears to be) beautiful bass rock for $72 on eBay. He has more of it so if you want it is there, but you better hurry because it's going fast. Thank you to all of you especially Biggourami

you welcome buddy,

did the base rock looklike LR w/o all the stuff on it?

No, it looks like regular white base rock. But it has some nice shapes that will complement the live rock I already have in there. Do you know if it will be safe for me to include this base rock into my fish tank even though I just started cycling the tank, or should I wait until it has finished cycling?

NOOOO NO NO NO!!!!!! put it in NOW!
if you wait to put it in. the nitrifying bacteria will have to grow on the base portion and it will re-cycle your tank, killing any fish that you have in there.
get it all in now, wait 2 weeks and add a damsel or somthing, another week or twoand add your first "fish" fish.
