Not an aquarium fish, but fish I purchased. When I started fishing, I used to buy sucker minnows(probably just young suckers at about 6 inches) to go pike fishing. While fishing on a bridge at a state park, a little girl kept bothering me asking the names of my fish. while she was distracting me I ended up getting a big bite and lost my bait but thankfully not my rod lol. It was such a long time ago, but I think I have also had people think that my sucker minnows were fish that I caught.

At home, people are always interested in my senegal bichir. They think he is huge even though he is only 7 inches. A guy working on our house thought it was a catfish because of its barbels. He didn't seem to listen when I tried telling him it wasn't a catfish. My little cousin liked to watch him eat and was startled when the fish made a dash. Everyone always ignores the opaline gourami in the same tank(like he is invisible).

Not many people have seen my 75, but they are always amazed by how big it is, if I mention it. Very few people percentage wise keep aquariums larger than 55.

99.9% of people on here have over 55 gallons:)

My best reaction was HOLY SH*T that is a HUGE tank, and it was only a 30 gallon. Wait till they see my 300 gallon

Yea, I told a guy at work that many of people on MFK own aquariums that are 300 gallons or more. He seemed shocked and thought you guys were crazy lol

when i had my 11" oscar the handyman for my apartment everytime he was here would say, dang that fish is big enough to eat.
i have a 90g which isnt big compared to tanks on here but i always get the thats a huge tank must have cost you a bunch.

Uh, he said People, not people from MFK

non-fish people that like fish always seem drawn to my cichlids when they come over to my tanks, and they say like "Wow, they're so big" and then they ask if i can feed them. Funny thing is most of my cichlids are juveniles and growouts, so they really aren't big by MFK standards, but to non-fish folk they are bigger than the guppies they're used to

Well at my dads house everyone is suprised by the 240 gallon and 180 on top of one another and just look at it all night long. Though when anyone comes near the tank the fish just ram the glass to try and kill them lol ( Black Nasty, RD, White Midas, and a Motaguense, I did have a Beani in there but he died 3 weeks ago form old age. He was 14 years old.) Another great reaction is my Managuense had fry and there are about 800 and people screamed Holy crap thats alot of babies and look how little they are. This just happened recently bout 3 days ago it was pretty funny because everyone was amazed how the parents were taking care of the young and protecting them.

My favorite reaction is when people think my main display (125g mixed group of africans with plants and a TON of lacerock) is a saltwater tank. I keep wanting to redo with Central Americans, but that reaction always makes me keep the africans around.
