Based on the thread on he other forum, it was illegal for him to remove the fish alive from the food market that he bought it from. King-el, give me and address and last name and I'll call the Canadian equivalent of fish and game. I already know the name of the market- we'll see who is right.

The fish was barely alive when I bought them. Plus not all fish are dead when they sell them to the customer. Their was an old man who bought the same fish and he said he wants them with no damage and they just put it in a bag and it was still moving. The guy was Chinese so they just let him. I also bought 5 more for making soup and all 5 fish were hit in the head hard. When I washes them and leave them in the sink for a while because I was watching a NBA game, and when I came back the fish were still alive and back to normal and two of them even jump out of to the floor. I thought they were dead because they were out of the water inside the bag and the weather is freaking cold too, and it was like 2 hours without water.

Not all fish are killed. Another guy even ask he wants 10 snakeheads for his restaurant and they gave him live ones.

Why you gotta be so negative to prof yourself that your right? I only did this because I want to obtain the fish and I'm not those irresponsible person who let their fish go in the wild. Not many snakeheads here are available in lfs and they are mostly red snakeheads and dwarf snakeheads all year around.

why is he trying to sell you dead snakehead? Who really eats that? cool fish though, and a smart way of obtaining it lol..shoulda just batter the body instead of head

Here are the pics of the snakehead that I got, and it's not a channa strita. It could be channa maculata or channa argus, but I lean toward more on channa maculata.

Please give a proper ID.
Maybe a male as it got a slender body and with bigger wider head. It got a 3 layer spots.

Maybe a female. It got a pointer head and very chubby. The patterns is also different. The spots is much bigger, and it only got a two layer spots.

I hope they are channa maculatas as I don't want channa argus. They just grow to big for my standards. If they are channa argus then I have no choice but to turn them into fish soup when they out grow the tank. They are for consumption from the start anyway. I just ate 3 of them last night and they taste so good. I keep just two alive for my collection.

Regardless of motive, what you did was illegal. Admit that and I'm done with this thread.

I went at that market again and talk to the manager that I'm quitting and also ask her if I could take home some live snakeheads and she said, "It's okay, go ahead. Just don't release them in the wild."
