This kinda makes me one to get a fahaka one day... of course this us the impulse in me talking but if I could get one from a baby, about 2 inches or so, and raise them as the only fish in the tank and interacted with them a lot, do ya reckon he would be more likely to be nice?

I think he would be nicer but each fish is different

They would definitely learn you are the boss and the owner that way... as for temprament that really does depend on the individual puffer... some are known to be way more psychotic than others to tankmates...

Kind of comes down to luck of the draw imho...

And back to reality  a psycho fahaka? The mere thought of that is enough for me to get rid of all thoughts of owning one.

Still have the ability to bite through a clam with ease soooooooo no

I’m glad to see puffers got brought up. They are so fun. Interactive, hunters, active, and so adorable!
Caution should be taken around all puffers. My gsp has taken chunks out of my fingers a few times. Lol
A fahaka is so on my “someday” list. Every time I see them at the fish store I’m so tempted to get one. But at $130+ they are not in my spontaneous buy range. Haha! And that’s good. I want to be prepared before I’d get one.

I think narrowing your list to two and getting both with a divider is a good idea.... depending on your ability to cut ties with one of them. Personally I’d likely get attached to both and be in trouble. Lol

That's kind of a crazy price. $130 is typically what you would pay for a Mbu. Fahakas should be around the $30 range for a 2-3 incher.

That price was for a 4”, that store is the only one I’ve seen sell them. Maybe that’s why they are so much? Mbu’s I think we’re a little more, but not far off. Hard to remember.
