When I first started keeping fish I mixed hot and cold tap water to get the right temp and 23 fish died. I had molly's and platys.
I need to do a water change on the 75g but my tap water is brown so I have to wait for it to clear up.

You don't live in America do you?

The fish might be dying from stress...

where is the tank sitting?

How much sunlight hits it?

Are there doors/windows near it?

I have a friend who lost tons of fish than she moved the fish tank 2 ft farther from the window and immediately the fish stopped dying (we still don't know why they were dying from being near the window)

I doubt being near a window has anything to do with it. But the water situation is very different. Buying some big storage containers could help to keep water that’s ready and stable on hand. If you have access and room for at least one it would probably be a good idea.

What kind of contaminants are in the river water? Also curious what country your in.

Yes I agree...
you could get the water ready so that it sits for a week or so and is fully ready to be put in the aquarium.

Maybe the window area made it colder or something... I dont know.

I'm in the good ole USA. I live in Louisiana. I've tested the water from the tap after it cools down and its good. I use the liquid testing kit, but I also have regular water testing strips that test for other things and they show nothing.

All of my tanks are in the guest bedroom where I watch tv (I'm not a sports or hunting fan, which is played on the other tv, lol). They are in front of windows but they are covered with blinds and dark curtains. I keep a regular check on the temp.

I wish I had the room for the extra tubs. I don't. I have a 55g, 75g and 29g tank that I do 50% weekly water changes.

I pack a lot of 5g buckets full of water in and out of that room. It takes a toll on my shoulders, but I have some new muscles in my arms. Lol
