It seems to all splinter instead. Some folks just think they know best. They can’t abide with others, even where they are nearly identical.

Helo; Just now finished a read thru of the three pages in this thread. Lots of good posts. This sort of revision of past written works has a real danger attached. Things in the past happened and while rewriting the story of these episodes will not actually change events for those who lived thru them, those born later can have a skewed view.
Saw an interview with the director of some very popular movies, Spielberg maybe,. He was lamenting the way he did the past movies under the lights of current ridiculous standards.

Three pages Jeff! I have all 32 posts of this thread on a single page. I find it much easier. You can alter your post per page count in your settings if you prefer. You must have yours set at 10 posts per page. You can go all the way up to 40 posts per page. Just in case you're not aware

Looks like the James Bond books, written by Ian Fleming, are also going to get a "sensitivity" makeover too.

The "racial" referencing puzzles me somewhat though. These books go back some 60 years or so, when attitudes were different. I can't for the life in me understand why they'd want to change them when modern series, such as "Power" get away with the "N" word on a jaw dropping scale, and this show is modern day!!

"Power" is a brilliant brilliant show, one of the best I've seen. Those who have seen it will know exactly what I mean when I reference the "N" word. How on gods earth they've got away with it is totally beyond me.

Back in the summer a van pulled up next to my car and through the open windows a jolly catchy pop song came floating over and the girl in the van's passenger seat did some flirting and gyrating to the music which was very nice.

I got home later and looked for the song online and eventually found it was a rap duet called "Kiss Me More" by Doja Cat and SZA, the latter of whom used the N word four times in the lyrics which surprised me along with many other things in the video and lyrics. The video was a visual and aural treat by the way and very different to what I would normally seek out for myself.

That was an interesting little diversion, but I mention it because you asked why Power gets away with using the N word. I haven't seen it yet but I will have another diversion that way soon. I wonder whether the fact that Power is by a female African American is relevant and like SZA in the song Courtney A. Kemp is allowed to use that word.

Like others a lot of what is going on doesn't make sense to me. As I was trained as a scientist I believe in things that can be demonstrated and shown repeatedly. I am not swayed by the supernatural or what is the state of somebody's mind that can be changed through the day. I pushed back recently with family members who are woke and effectively stopped the conversation by bringing them back to first principles. On social media, I have noted that doing this gets you cancelled.

Being Politically Correct is not a good way to run society I think.

Hello; On a different forum a thread got started about gender questions. Several members, including myself, stated there are biologically only two genders set by DNA/biology at conception. I was some surprised by the number of 'woke' active on that site. I was less surprised when the thread was closed. No one was cancelled, however.

There is a disconnect from reality going on with some currently popular ideas. Biological males cannot become pregnant is a fact and not subject to ideology. Regardless of how someone feels/thinks about his/her gender, that aspect of existence is set at conception.

It used to be considered a serious problem when a person stepped away from reality. Now biological males are allowed to compete in sports against biological females and states/courts allow it.

90% flunk out before that is learned. They only trust the 10% when they can “believe”, and are otherwise 90% incapable of judging the evidence.

You’re not allowed to have a serious problem with anything unless you are told to. Anything else is considered prejudicial, no matter how logical the construction may be at the root of its existence.

This is what gets one canceled from social media. Having an unauthorized problem.

Some people believe that if they can clothe themselves in the admonishment of past injustice, they earn the right to be publicly offensive. This is not true, even when it is deserved.

If our first reaction to offense is not understanding and forgiveness, our last reaction to it will be unjustifiable.

Room already reserved in...well, you get the idea...

Guys, when we get there, let's petition to try and get rooms in the same dorm. We can then work together to set up a couple display tanks, maybe in the Common Area or the TV Room.

Might as well try to be comfortable...we're gonna be there forever, so...:)

Nice thread. Valid points and some humor too.
