BGK, weird lump

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah i know, i thought that lump seemed too near the head to be eggs. its too bad that you cant make anyone help you. have you tried www.wetwebmedia.com they are really good, email them ur stats etc with the pic and they might be able to help u.

I don;t know if this helps, but my BGK just died and he had this weird white pump coming out of his side. I thought it was because I had fed him a large freeze dried shrimp and it poked him from the inside out, but I'm not so sure now. Here's a picture after he died. Im not sure if it helps but I have another of his before he died:

I think its possible that died from overfeeding...

I think I'm coming to the conclusion that bgk that have lumps died of liver damage...

yes, i was about to suggest the same. i would never be able to biopsy my own fish because it would be too sad for me, but if you can, then it would be good for you to find out the cause. but then if it is from overfeeding then it could make u regret giving it so much food. this is a hard choice.

I already gave him a burial at see, so a biopsy wouldn't be possible.

Over feeding might be a possibility...just didn't think that what happened was physically possible.

looks a bit pink. maybe he got a sore - like a burn from a heater? well no matter what happened, that looks like a lovely fish. so big! lol mine is only 8 cm!

Thanks John but it looks different to what mine seems to have. Your's looks something like an abcess and looks very sore. Sorry to see it didn't make it :( I did actually read your thread before i posted mine.
Mine just looks the same as in the photo's, no worse or better.

It could be fish tuberculosis, which is very contagious to fish, and very lethal even if the original bump heals. Did you add any new fish recently, and are there any other fish in that tank?

I'm not sure if this was to me or the poster of the thread. In my case the fish was by himself. The white bump you see pushed it's was from the inside and through the black flesh of the fish (or that's what it seemed like).
