Bichir + 75 gallons+ tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
tryed the hole knife mix, my ornate had no part of it .
He took out a ghost over night, big ghost I might add.
Transperent knife two days.
He made it a little longer because (harder too see ) But that didn't last too long.
Hell mine tore throw two raphels, one stripe one spotted.
What I'm trying to get at, some things don't mix so well even know it's bigger don't mean it's always safe from the bicshirs.
A well fed bichir tend's to be less nasty.

an ornate would get way to big for that tank anyways, but with knives do 1 or 3+, im planning on a similar tank looking forward to this thread

I have always heard that African knives were kinda aggressive??

Well... I think everthing else in this tank would be able to take care of themselves;)
I'm just not sure if I want to have 1 or 3+...:naughty:

Ok, another quick question. Which substrate would be better - sand or small gravel? I'm wanting to have plants, so I don't know if the sand would work for that, but I'm not sure if small gravel would be okay for the bichirs. Would they eat the small gravel and become compacted?
I'm wanting to go with gravel (for the plants), but not if it's going to be bad for the bichirs.
A little help?

Ok, I've finally found a 60 gallon tank with an oak stand and canopy. For stocking, I'll have:
2 Sengal Bichirs
1 African Brown Knifefish
1 Leopard Bushfish (Ctenopoma)
2 or 3 African Butterflyfish

I've decided to get only one each of the Knifefish and Bushfish, since I've heard that they don't play nice with others within their species. (With the Knifefish it's because I don't want to mess up his electrical field.)
Do ya'll think this is a good setup?
Oh, I'm also going to have plants in there too!
