i think eman was under the impression that your post was talking about exporting the 'full color' one in the pics.

so just to clarify, i believe CDM was referring to the juvies. and the freight cost and fees is what sucks...

that's exactly what I was thinking... but the price that CDM is talking about is for a juvi??? how much would a bichir bichir that is the same size as the one posted in that picture attached by bichirs4life??? I want one of those guys.....

To me, that doesn't sound too bad, I'd rather pay a high price for something as rare as Pbb than for a fish thats bred by the thousands but some feng shui expert said the red colour will make you rich.

Cool, I'm not sure how much a red arrowana costs though. Are we talking in the thousands? I would love to personally own a full color bichir bichir like the one in the picture. I don't have to own one this big. I would like to have one of the juveniles and grow it bigger. So you've spoken to Seiichi Hamada? I'd love to speak to him. Do you know how often he gets bichir bichirs and his $$ range? These are true beauties!!!

we're not talking about juvy 'full color' Pbb. The price was for a small juvy from that first batch of captive bred Pbb available Sep/Oct of last year, and i think they're 'normal' Pbb (basically they're not touted as offsprings from a pair of 'full color'). Anyway there are two large specimens of the so-called 'full color' collected from the wild. i'm not sure if that was all, or if they were able to collect a few more later on. Anyway, he said he could help export a few juvies from that first batch last year because he could get a hold of some, not that he'd be regularly getting and selling them, and my understanding is that it's like a one-time-kinda thing (well not literally one time, but you get the idea, i.e. he's not looking at doing this with any frequency). And the freight cost etc equals the price of another juvy.

yes a juvy. a big 'normal' one can be in the range of (or more than) several high grade super reds/xbacks. Keep in mind though fish in japan are more expensive in general to begin with.
