Bichir only tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It really depends on you, me i have 5 ornate on my 180g and i have alot of lower jaw species.

If you like space for polys to swim ill put two ornates, and the other three you've mentioned.

Alot of people like more polys cause they like to dogpile. They like to hangout with other polys.

Thats really good news then, thank you. Its much more room than i will actually need then. I only want those 4, so they will have lots of room and play space :) good to know that if something special would come down the road, id have the room to add it (sizing applicable of coarse)
Do you have any pics of ur 180? Id like to check it out

Wider the tank the better. No diff between a 125 and a 150 same width if we're talking the standard 72x18

No, the 150T is a 60x24x24. Its that 18 that had my concerns. I like and prefer wider footprint tanks, the fish seem to enjoy that better.
This my 180g.

Polys still small, range about 8"-12".

I have 22 in there, lolz, like i said it really depends on the person, mostly mines lay down on the bottom, the only ones that swims around are my cb endlis and ornate. Ive seen more worst than mine, call it poly carpet:D

Here i am stressing over my tank size and i didnt know you could have so many together like that. I looked up some pics of other tanks and saw many that were "poly-carpeted" lol
Is that a preferable thing to do with them? (Like overstocking a cichlid tank to minimize tank aggression?

Having a solid background in plumbing will make my new tank super easy to do water changes in. When i get my 150T, im going to build the stand to house a 75gal dementioned water curing tank. All drains and feeds in place and "ready water" on hand.
The "bucket theory" sux and would even more once trippled lol.
