You're right Meghan, if you count that set of teeth, then technically yes they have multiple 'rows' of teeth. I always forget about those lol

They are only observeable through dissection however.
 
I never knew it either, not that I am so well versed on their anatomy.

As I said I buried my ornate that recently passed in wooden box, and I'm planning on digging him up after he fully decomposes (hope that doesn't sound too morbid). This tidbit adds to my curiosity.

I'm no biologist so I don't know what they name that teeth look a like behind the primary teeth. They are very similar to a catfish teeth but who know what they are. All I know that they are not part of the tissue but part of the bone.

I'll post pics of my dead lap upper and lower jaw soon. It's still decaying.
 
I'm betting the name of the bone is in that paper I posted, I still haven't had the time to go through it again and figure it out (been working 12hr days).

We can figure it out though. I'm looking forward to those skeletal shots.

Wow 12 hours a day. Used to work like that too but my GF doesn't want me to work for over time as she wants me for over time. Lol!

And I'll try and post pics of the lap's head soon.
 
lol as long as it's 'fun' over time and not 'pulling the leash' over time then you're making the right choice pare.

because of the OT I've been working my fish allowance has gone up, the only brightside lol
