Logical or not, it's a fairly common pronunciation. Think about the U.S. pronunciation of "colonel", most say it "kernel". No R there, either.

the lfs ive been going to calls em byechers. old lfs said bikers. i just say polypterids. lol they usually catch up with what im trying to ask for lol
