Big fish/True Measurements

Main pupose for this thread is to show that our fish could be smaller than we think. I have had this fish 2 years and could have sworn he was bigger. I do not post pictures of him daily, as do some of our more prolific posters, but I think he is a big fish. Obviously this proves my fish is smaller than I had guestimated, how big is your fish REALLY?

All those 20 inch dovis must really be huge..........

I can see how many over estimate but it is not always the case. I always stated 15" as a guess for my previous jag but when I measured him he was closer to 17" TL. The only sure way is to measure so I take estimates with a grain of salt.

He was a big fish, he did not last long after that shot, did he?
 
well when i got my eel i was told he was 6ft. He was smaller than he is now. I should be pulling him out of the tank within the next week or 2. Ill get a picture of me wrangling the beast and slap a tape measure on him. I say hes 5ft all the time , but if i was to actually measure him id say like 4feet 8 inches. Though hes big enough to take off your whole forearm in one bite , so it doesnt really matter lol.

Though i have a picture of him in a 180 thats 6 feet long , he seems to be only a couple inches away from the end. He can really stretch out if he wants to

here ya go. The one tank is 6 feet in the first pic , he is a good foot up the glass and almost as long as the tank. The other tank is 7ft or 8ft long , and hes never fully stretched out. Hes still my big green monster though and i love him either way :)

The two last pics are hiding his tail , it gets very small towards the end and adds quite a bit more length

id say 5 foot for that eel

i dont want to take out my fish just to measure them but i do belive everyone over estimates there fish including me
