Big Trouble

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I too have had a group of 6 tiger barbs that generally only bothered each other.

but neons are small, so are cherry barbs. that was my concern.

I agree with the others though.

if you are still doing research, the research should tell you to invest in a larger tank now, rather than delay the inevitable in a short time anyway.

that way you would also be able to put more fish in it, something closer to your list.

saves you the trouble of upgrading when you could do it right from the beginning.

keep the tigers in a good shoal of 8, and they wont harrass the others, its when they are in a small group the get nasty!

Ok... maybe I shouldn't lie anymore but this "tank" is actually a mini-pond its like part of the pond and is connected to the excellent pond filtration, thats why I want to keep the pleco. Its like a long 30g drain next to my large pond so I think I'm gonna get rid of clown loach cause of their diseases and neon tetras so they don't die... I'm still considering whether to keep the pleco but i am quite sure that the tiger barbs are not too harmful if they aren't too large in comparison with the other fishes, anyone disagrees?

Yeah, you'll need at least a 55g. Skip the clowns unless you can get a bigger tank in the future and the tiger barbs may nip the other fish, it depends. The dwarf gourmis would likely fight and they can be aggressive to other fish. Get a small pleco, like a bristlenose.

Will this pond be heated?

I see

2 Ram Dwarf Cichlids (Pair)
2 Siamese Algae Eaters

as the biggest two problems(they will harass the other fish), the pleco is fine until he gets too big. Group the tiger barbs together and they will be fine.

Overall too many fish

Ok, so I'll just skip the 30g and get the 55g so you mean that the rams will harrass other fishes? Are you sure???? They're so peaceful and a friend of mine has been keeping these rams with other smaller fishes (tetras) and they're still very peaceful. Do the Siamese Algae eaters really harrass other fishes? What if I keep just 1?

Got any pics?
Even with excellent filtration,30g or 55g isn't big enough for a pleco,unless it's a dwarf.
