But quit de-railing! :D

I want to see big black belts!

Here you go. Big Blackbelts.

The biggest Blackbelts I've ever seen were at a public aquarium. These guys were huge, I'd guess 16-18" long and 6" thick. They make my Festae at his current size look tiny. Now you know what you have to look forward to.

Nice BB, one thing that i've noticed about BBs is when they start to get extremely large they start getting uglier IMO.

That tends to be the case with a lot of cichlids IMO.

NICE! Those are huge! Do you just have the one pic? What aquarium is that?

The photos were taken at what was the Dallas Aquarium before they tore it down and totally rebuilt it a few years ago. I have this other BB photo...I wish there was something in the picture to use for a sense of scale because this fish is enormous and you can't really tell. When you see cichlids this big, it makes you realize how inadequate most home aquariums are for them long term.

TMS, these Blackbelts are gigantic and they're not ugly.

Here's one I had years ago, was about 10-11"

I agree, my 125 is way too small for him at 12", I can't believe people think they can throw these guys in 4 foot tanks. I just got a 225 measuring 72x30x24" that he is going in. I think he will be pretty happy in that for now.

Those fish are freakin awsome.

I just bought a a 72x30x24 220/225 what ever you want to call it. So it's sitting on the stand empty and I'm thinking this thing is enormous, once I filled it and put fish in it I'm thinking DAMN! I should have gottin the 300 I still a bigger tank..........lol.

So yeah, when I see the 55 gallon threads I go nuts. I know what you mean even the biggest tank we can get is a drop compaired to the bodys of water these guys live in.
