BUT i have notice big growth with tigers fed on pellets so i would say the reason for such slow growth is because they are not getting the things they need in other foods apart from pellets

That's a very wrong assumption! :grinno: The only reason fish that eats pellets MAY grow bigger or faster than fish that eats other food is that they get fed more often, since it's more convenient to feed fish with pellets - just open and pour! :D

This could also be a very wrong assumption depending on diet. If you are only feeding market shrimp(just for example), the fish is not going to get the same nutrition a pellet fed fish would get. He might be full, but that only does so much for growth. If lots of different raw foods are fed, then you can change that.

More jumbo datnoid pictures!!!

some awesome dats on this thread !!!
my 5-6" dats will be good for this thread in like 8 years

JPTC has a big ARSE Indo. Ill give JL his props cause it came from him

Im going to take a wild guess and say its 20"+ and stable as heck! Its hard to get a size when your looking into a 10K gallon tank :)

My angelfish actually grew faster when I reduced feedings. I think the reduction in wastes produced encouraged growth better than excess food. This, of course, in lieu of more frequent or larger water changes.
But datnoids are known slow growers. Just like a raphael catfish. You can cram that puppy full of food and keep its water pristine, but it's a slave to its DNA and rapid growth is just not what the species relied on for success, so it isn't available in most cases.

Bumping this thread to compare these datnoid pictures to a new biggest datnoid thread.
