From the looks of your ebjd female I'd say ours is a female as well she has beak mouth should we breed her or try and find a better specimen. They are hard to come by here and not cheap the wife saw some today around 2 inches and they were 60 bucks each.

Here's mine at about 4+". He has grown a lot in the 5 months I've had him. That may be because of the mysteriously disappearing small fish (plural) right after he moved in.

I bought mine April 28th, he's grown about 2"s since then. But he's growing at the same pace as my regular male Dempsey, so I'm not concerned with that. If you do get one, grow it out for a while before you put other fish with it.

I have had mine for a year. He grew fast from 2" to 4" now it's like he stop growing.

I dont now but I used to have one around 6-7" it grew real slow i had it for around a year and it only grew around about 1-1.5" in that space of time maybe they just grow real slow
