Never had one over 15" but I've seen some that were easily over 18" at a public aquaruim. Course there is no way to verify the size but I know what I saw.

i have found that oscars tend to grow bigger in a more natural environment i.e. biotopes or public aquaria. i bought one the same day as a friend who bought 3. his went in a 210, mine in a 30 gallon growout. mine reached 6 inches in 5 months and his barely grew. did i mention my tank was amazonian themed and his was alian themed? just my 3 cents on the matter
bought mine about 1.5 months ago at 4 and 4.5 inches now the biggest is 6 inches and the smallest is 5.5 close to 6 inches. so about an inch a month mine is growing.
thought i'd throw mine into the mix he's nowhere near as big as some of the ones on here, ive had him since december and he's about the 9-10" mark now ive never measured him tho..

best way is by venting. but thats all i know ( i think Oo is female and oo is male or somthing like that )
