bio filter media. i dont want to use scrubbies!

Haha, but that was my point. I also dont like how hard it is to get water through things like http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...27&pcatid=4327

Water flows very easily through that media. It really depends on the cross section surface area. Similar to the ID of a pipe. The larger cross surface area the more flow you can have running through media, also the more media you will have. Its correct to know that you would need a large cross section surface arae with this media to allow a very high flow compared to another media like bio balls with the same flow with a smaller cross section surface area.

A wet/dry would have no problem at all with this media.

Also, the talk between which media is best to use in canisters vs wet/dry. They will work in either setup. Canisters you are limited to the volume so you wan't media which packs tighter than bio balls. Scrubbies will work fine to. I prefer ceramic material or bio bale in any situation. Bio Bale is cheap and you get a lot of it.

Yes, only at a certain point though if your cross surface area is limited. See my above post. The flow rates we usually see, 200-900 GPH, there is not to much to worry about.

bio bale?

Lagunakoi.com - 1Cubic Foot (28 liters) = $35

Best bet is to figure what type filter you are going to build, work on the design. Once you have that it will help you in deciding what media is best for you situation.

^ Didn't you already say that? lol

Not only the "type" of filter but also the volume of media needed. Lots of volume equals lots of money for some media.

It is a little pricey, but the square footage is way higher than anything else on the market.

Hey guys, the CK codes work on these!

1 liter

2 liters

5 liters

Makes it cheaper. Cheaper is always more attractive.

So if you like using this stuff, then TA DA! If not, well, then just ignore me.

Just my 2 cents :)

as long as the handle are porous. If they are not, don't use them. They will not work as efficient as media designed for bio filtration
