True, blacks are smaller than silvers. Also they are not prone to drop eye. I've never personally seen a black with DE. They cost more also, my area they are more than double a sliver in price.

If that's true I'd get a black aro for sure if I had the chance.
My silver got DE as he got older an no matter wat I did to prevent it , it happened anyway. Felt slack ended up puttin him in a pond. Also iv never had a jardini that got DE, so it could be true

Blacks are great for smaller "monster" tanks like 180 and up. They just don't get as big as silvers. They are pricy because they are all wild caught. They also seem to be seasonal. It's right about now we start seeing baby blacks on the market and only for the next few months.

This is my Black Aro, got it a year and a half ago at about 8 inches and now I would guess it's 18 to 20 inches. Paid $200 after the price dropped from $250.

i read on internet black grows smaller than silver and anything over 150 is fine as long as no more than 1 in one tank.

I read on the internet that if I send my bank details to Mr Mbungo Gahoota, the former president of Nigerias best mate, he'll put $17,340,000.00 into my bank account!

I agree with Bderik 100%, 8' long and 30" wide at the bare minimum, 36" would be better. 83" isn't ideal, but a black in your tank would be better off than most others [unfortunately] and should be fine for many years.

Cramming the biggest possible fish into your tank so they don't have room to behave naturally doesn't make you a monster fish keeper, it makes you a retard...

You should not be giving tank size advice when you're currently housing a silver in a 20gal:irked:

on serious note you should, the TS is all good with his 240G tank he has as long as he does not overcrowded the tank with monster size fish like the aro, again its my opinion.hell yeah the bigger the better but not everyone could afford to buy south american river to call it as their aquarium

150+ aquarium not good enough:WHOA:

Neither of my two black aros (24" & 26") could be keep in a 150g aquarium. Your advice is incomplete at least but more or less just incorrect. I would suspect that someone who has been keeping arowana less then a week, should not be giving advice and not regurgitating something cause he read it on the internet.

Then don't buy the fish.
