i would do the same, gratz for the result u wanted :woot:
dont listen to those hippies, do whatever u want with ur fish, they all jeleous u did good job on the "operation"

No, dayak, they are simply concerned for the aro's health. Needless to say, if you decided to try a similar operation on your aro, your water quality would cause a slew of secondary infections in your aro.

dang, u guys let the owner do whatever, the result satisfied him and in the exchange he got much healthier fish that he got before.
u the flamers need to stay in ur closet..let those people who thinks outside the box do their thing so u can copy his work and repost it the forum LOL.
just sit down and keep ur own opinion to urself no ones need it suck ur own thumb if u cant help it

This is an internet forum.
The whole idea is based upon people expressing their OPINIONS.

Dayak, you're not thinking outside the box. You just have idiotic ideas that everyone who's normal can't think of. Who on earth would copy you and screw up a simple cycle then try to say you were actually "immunizing" your aro LOL. Weren't you going to go build up your aro's immune system by pumping a whole bunch of diseases and crap into your already crap-filled tank?

Theres a difference between having your aro injure itself, ripping half its tail fin off, which basically forces you to cut it if you want it to ever grow back properly. If i remember correctly, that aro was actually swimming oddly, hence why the operation was needed. On the other hand, this guy just likes to mutilate his aro for his own visual satisfaction, which in my opinion is not only unnecessary, but also foolish.

A question for the OP, didn't your fish seemed to be in pain while you were doing this? I'm not flaming but seriously asking.

Maybe you should take your own advice, this thread as most others can do without your input:duh: oh yeah that's right you don't take anyone's advice. If the OP didn't want people's opinions, he wouldn't be posting in a public forum. I don't believe he is some clown just posting to get attention, which I do believe is your reason for being.

I think that "if" the fins were seriously disfigured, that it is totally chill to do it. I mean look at dogs, we crop ears, dock tails (Not sure thats the right word) and remove dew claws... How is this any different?

Personally I think the fish will be happier in the long run with fins that work properly rather than having difficulty swimming for the rest of it's life.

I doubt this is as black and white as people think it is.
