I recently bought a BGKF and the long fin below has a few splits in it? I bought it like this and it was in a bit of PVC pipe when I selected it - I have ordered a few hideouts for my fish who hide - but is this a normal occurrence in BGKFish or could this be a condition eg fin rot? please help, thanks

Maybe from transport to the lfs. Not typically seen for sure. If not too deep and far apart i imagine it’ll be eventually be fine. Post some pics and will see.

Should grow back and looks to be torn but not fin rot. Keep the water clean and it’ll heal up.

I bought a group of 5 BGKF & noticed they had a fungal infection when i got home i treated it with paragaurd but at that same time medicines became illegal in Canada. All but one died from this fraying and it wasn't as bad as these picture's i found this forum while looking for answers on this fraying myself as i just purchased a full size 18'" BGK i assumed it was just from transport but i'm curious to know how this turned out?

Welcome aboard
The op hasn't been on the forum for quite some time.

Honestly I believe with proper water changes and parameters this guy should be back to having solid finnage. Probably tore during transport or handling. I do 2x water changes a week and usually takes 1wk-2wk for any fins to heal. R RomyD85
