Hey guys i just joined in, my name is Antonis, I'm from Cyprus(Europe) and i have a 55g freshwater tanks which i currently rebuilded due to the fact that it broke down 2 years ago in my room and water was all over the place-i still remember that ouch-. So i want a bigger tank buty for nows this one is pretty much ok and my mistake for now is that i'm so much inlove with BGK's that i put 4 of them in tank I know it's a mistake but i really love these guys but i want them to grow healthy so any advise on what to do except returning 1-2 of them back at the shop?They're 4inches each approx. and i'm currently waiting for a fire eel to arrive anyday now. Any help also about their diet and how often should i feed them?

While people have had success with keeping multiple BGKs together, it is only a few. They tend to be territorial and may fight amongst each other. However, they will be fine with other fish providing size and aggression of the fish.

They can live in a 55g for a good while, but since these guys do get over 12" a 75g will give them plenty of "turn around" room.

Can they be tanked with a zig-zag eel?

And what is a common price for one of these at a pet store? Around 3-4ins, the LFS has one there for $14.99

I just bought mine (4'') from petsmart (and I hope that your LFS is better than my petsmart) for $16.99 and was on sale from $23.99. I should say that $14.99 is a good price if you can trust the health of the fish.

Sorry, can't help you with the eel question...you (and I) should be interested to hear the experts chime in.

BGKs are pretty well behaved as long as there is plenty of territory around. Just make sure there are more than a few hiding spots around.

Price usually depends on location. Here in SoCal, I can find one as cheap as $8, but it can go as high as $17 for one that size.
