Black Rays with white spots - Average Price

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Calgary has Riverfront that always has a variety of rays for sale. While I appreciate the LFS, you can get a better deal from private breeders. Once you get to know some of them you will see that their quality is better since they love the fish they breed. If you want help finding something let me know I would love to help.
Again if you know the owner at the lfs then price is negotiable. I actually know the owner of the black ray at riverfront and could get it for cheaper if I was in the market for buying one. Not all rays at the lfs belong to the lfs. Sometimes the rays are left there on consignment by breeders or hobbyists! Sometimes you have to support your lfs and that's how you get to know them and get good deals.

Of course a LFS has markup and trusts their source for purchase. At the same time a smart consumer wouldnt take someone at their word of it being a TI leo. I know those guys as well and know where they purchased the rays but even at 2gs there is better sources out there. Thats not to discount the LFS. They are a wealth of knowledge and have actually been great guys to deal with.

As for the black rays at riverfront. There are 3. So I am assuming that your talking about the smaller ones. And you are right if you talk to the owner he will work with you on price. Great guy there and easy to deal with. Probs why he has been a fixture in exotic fish for so long.

Can't tell on any ray at 5", unless you know with out a doubt who the parents are and that still doesn't mean the pups will turn out the same. Sometimes you may just have to take a persons word for how a ray will turn out. Lots of people are paying $1800 for rays. I know the manager and would definitely not have to pay 2g for one of those rays. Someone will eventually scoop them up.

How much could i expect to pay for a 5 inch henlei in alberta?

$1400 for p14 dam i wish i could sell to the US

I for the life of me can't understand why any fish/ray/dog/dinosaur would cost so much. If people want the hobby to spread and grow then why make things prices that most people cant afford. I understand some animals have more investment to put into actually caring for the animal but thats almost just a slap in the face because you are hit with two times the insane prices. I use to keep parrots and the whole thing was the same deal. I recently got a retic and i love him. He wasnt expensive and hes awesome. its just like someone else said, they live in the same place as the other rays and they are no more fragile.

dogs cost a lot to a english bulldog pup will cost you £2k i know because i just got one and before that shar-pei cost £1k

if its to much for you dont buy get a cheaper ray

if you cant afford a bently get a kia

if you cant afford to drink brandy drink cider

dont look in a armani shop if you cant afford to go in but dont hate the man who is in the store

its as simple as that dont spend above your budget buy what you can afford

or befriend a guy who breeds black rays and he may help you out ;)

did i forget to mention i also feel MFK protects vendors more than buyers by closing threads to expose them

It still doesnt change the fact that it keeps more people from being able to get into it though. I'm not disagreeing with you karman, just stating thing the way I perceive them. I'd love to have a henlei or a leopoldi or diamond but at there prices there is no way my wife would let me take a gamble on something that even under the best conditions could still die. thats another point to the whole scenario too, Not many can afford to drop 1000 bucks on something that could uncontrollably die.

so lets sell them for $10 then loads of people can go out and buy them and keep them in very very small tank like red tail cats

i hate to say it but people take care of a fish they pay £2k for than a fish they pay $10 and you will find its the people who know what they are doing who pay £2k for a fish not some guy who just walks into a shop and says i like that £2k fish i will take it

maybe when you have been keeping rays for a few years and feel like you know what you are doing and have a tank big enough for a black ray you will drop £2k on one
