I hear what you are saying and I agree but I also think 2k for any fish is crazy. There is a reasonable price for everything.
 
Point taken these sell for what people are willing to pay. They come from the same rivers lol And breeders put a lot into making babies($$$$$)
Bottom line is the price has dropped and will stay low as long as buyers shop around .,.for quality
 
The price for a standard Leo is near what it was before any bans were put in place years ago

Price before the ban £150-200 prices now £300

To tell the truth I have never paid more than £650 for any ray but I have paid £2k on asian aros on more than one occasion which I had no chance of breeding to get some money back

Every black ray I have had I have had from a very small size or bred myself

I recommend buying a pair from different breeders has some pups keep 2 females then sell the adults and buy a new male to go with the 2 females from you own stock

This will get your big money back and give you the good feeling of growing your own pups and breeding from them with time

This is just for hobbyists not people who are just breeding to make money

The thinbar in my avatar , unfortunately passed away a few weeks ago. It was the largest in the uk I believe 13.5-14 inch!

everytime people post pics of asian arowana all the people in the US say i wish we could get them in the US and they would buy one

you can get bd in the US for the same price as a good asian aro but people dont rush out and buy them why because they are expencive

if you could get asian aros in the US i wonder how many people would drop £2k on one as not many people drop £2k on fish you can get like bd

we have been able to get asian aros for years in the UK and the amount of people that are will to pay £2k for 1 i can count on 2 hands

the high end fish market is small in the UK if i put a fish up for sale above £500 i could prob tell you the 10-20 people who would be intrested

i dont know what the market is like in the US but anything over $200 is a lot for someone to drop on a fish

yes you can get cheap asian aros and bd but they are cheap for a reason you get what you pay for if you pay £1k on a asian aro you will get a £1k aro spend £2k you will get a £2k aro just because something is cheap dont expect it to look great
