yeah I know I moved the jardini temprarily into the 55g just to make sure the pima would be ok and it will be getting a bigger tank

What is it with Idiots that go buy fish that are going to get very large BEFORE getting a tank to hold it? (i'm not talking about the Gigas here either)

It sickens me that the shop sold your "mother" this fish to start with without giving any information.

It sickens me just as much that you are talking about starving the thing into growing slower!

Why not just return the fish with a few choice words to the seller?

Could be that the LFS selling the fish and the person buying the fish knew exactly what the fish is. As for the mother, she probably still has yet to even see the fish.
