Just keep an eye on Uncle Bill's pet stores. They still offer the 55s for $55.

NOT TRUE If you complain to the manager at the petco store they will give you the 55 for a dollar a gallon. I was told this directly yesterday at petco by an employee and almost picked it up for 55$ plus uncle sams.

hmm.. we dont even got petco's here. we have small lps's and if you are lucky you might live close enough to a big al's but there's not that many of them. $79 for a 50g would be awesome. here you are lucky if you can find a used one for $150. even walmart charges you $230 for a 50g. dam cold bush country. oh well.

basically now it is just the reg 20 and 29 gallon tanks on sale. 55 gallons are on sale for $79

I have been waiting all year to get some more 40 breeders.....

Damn you Petco!!!!!!

It has something to do with Law of Supply and Demand.

If gas price is no longer $1.00 a gallon, than don't expect other thing will be at such price.. You should feel fortunate that there's still some tank at such price

I went there yesterday when it opened hoping to pick up a 40 breeder too. The manager wouldn't budge. The sale was only on 20 and 29s. The real kicker was, the sale was only on tanks and you had to purchase everything else like the lids, lights, etc., separately. The only problem is, they didn't have any lids in stock to fit any of those tanks. Of course, two blocks away sits Petsmart who just happened to have tons in stock!

they never had the breeder tanks for 1$ a gallon anyway.... all tanks were standard tanks...

It was rectangle not standard. You used to be able to get anything rectangular between 20-55 gallons. INCLUDING oceanic cubes. Each year the sale got more limited...or smart (worked there part time while in college).

You either have to be an extremely smoothe talker, or talk to a sympathetic nice manager. The tank is already on sale, why would they give it to you for even cheaper? The guys at my store would have laughed if you asked.

Thats nothing to complain about!! ...tanks rarely go on sale. $1/gallon on any size above 15 gallons is as good as its going to get for a brand new tank.

Pick up some eggcrate and a shoplight, or aquarium light from walmart and you are up and running for the normal price of the tank.
