Thats nothing to complain about!! ...tanks rarely go on sale. $1/gallon on any size above 15 gallons is as good as its going to get for a brand new tank.

Pick up some eggcrate and a shoplight, or aquarium light from walmart and you are up and running for the normal price of the tank.

That's exactly what I would have done if I was in the market for a 20 or 29. Not that I was complaining, I just found it rather funny that the items that would make up for the sale (lids, lights, etc.,) were not even in stock. If somebody bought a 20L or a 29, they had to go to Petsmart for all of the accessories. I don't care how you look at it, that doesn't seem too bright to me! You sell bare tanks at a great price to bring people in the door but then you watch them go out the door to your competitor down the street for all of the markup items.

Ah yes, very true. But their target market is the noobs...who easily enough will reach for the deal on the tank, and then buy everything to go along with. Probably part of the reason behind the smaller sizes only being $1/g. The equipment will be cheaper...and most people buying the larger sizes pretty much just take advantage of it not to buy the other supplies there. Good business move on their part, bad for us. Oh well.

From what I heard, Aqueon is now charging Petco more for the tanks, so at $1 a gallon they were going to lose money on the sale of every tank over 29. Trust me, the employees aren't happy with this sale either.
