  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I havent fed any of my fish life food and the only thing I added was a few tetras for dithers, but Ive had the tetras for about 6 months and the tank they were in is having no problems, nor are they.

I thin ebjds are just prone to alot of diseases...I think I got lucky, ive had mine almost a year now and only had ick once when I first got him but it was gone the next day...good luck with yours

i had a ebjd for about a year and a half . It was one problem after another with it. that fish totally turned me off for ebjd's . It had everything !! It would get something i would put it in a hospital tank heal it up . and bam it would be another problem !

Thid id the only ebjd out of my stock that is sick. My others are healthy

So ive been running epsom salt and general cure. My ebjd stopped pooping white, i actually havent seen him poop in a couple days. The last 2 days I have offered epsom salt soaked bloodworms in the evening. My platinum is gobbling them up but my ebjd doesnt eat in front of me. But this morning i didnt really see any bloodworms on the floor, so i think he ate.

Im not sure if he is not wanting to eat infront of me or if the food is disappearing. Theres a divvider in so i know my platinum isnt eating the bloodworms from his side. I think my ebjd misses my platinum cuz he stares at her all day when im in there. His colors look good when he doesnt see me, then he turns dark when he sees me. Should I do my big water change tomorrow and not add any meds? Or keep up with epsom salt?

Give it a couple of more days a ten days is the recomended coures of treatment. Then you can do a large water change and let them return to normal. Don't worry if it doesn't eat right away it should stsrt to act normal once the treatment is complete. It sounds like your doing a good job EBJDs can be very delacate when young and prone to IPs.

Thank you for the reassurance =) Im pretty stressed over here. Check on him constantly.

So should i continue with the general cure/ epsom salt combo until saturday? Which would be the 10th day.

Yes, till Saturday and then it would be complete.

You should be doing 25-50% water changes between treatments of the API General Cure. Metro losses its effectiveness in about 8 hrs so it is better to treat in the morning and at night with water changes each time. A 10G hospital tank is perfect for this because its a lot less water. I had a 7" rarer predator cichlid on its death bed 3 weeks ago. He was very bloated and sick and also had fungus all over him because of secondary infections. I could literally just pick him up out of the water with my hand. I started to give him powdered metro plus furan-2 and kanamycin for the infections through his mouth with a baby syringe. I did this twice a day with water changes for close to 10 days. He survived and is in my main tank eating now. Once you see the fish not eating with white stringy poop you have to act fast. I know it seems like a lot of work and it is. But if you want to save him you have to use these drastic measures. How is the jack doing now.

He passed sunday
