well the price was cheaper than any where I've seen so it doesn't matter to me where the collection point was.
also, when I picked up the fish I was told that these were from Brazil, not sure where the Venezuela came from.

The seller claims they are from Venezuela in a sale thread on another forum. If you got nthem for anywhere near the 30 bucks he selling them for there you got a good price.

I had to pay 35 bucks for the same fish last year from infinite aquatics.

Yeah I saw those too, that info just comes from a member in another forum. Nothing real to back up those posts. Except there are a couple references to the ban of exporting blacks from Brazil. According to fish base the only country the black aro is indigenous to is Brazil, not Colombia. Though Black aros are said to come from the Rio Negro river, which has it's origins in Colombia.
good point, a fish can be said to be collected from the rio negro, but because it runs through two countries, colombia and brazil, it could be a little misleading thinking your getting a "true" brazilian fish when it may have been collected in venezuela

One thing I have noticed is that a lot of stuff that comes from
Brazil and is exported out of Columbia(when export from Brazil is banned). Piggybacking is what the exporters were calling it a few years ago, when a few black rays and other rare gems were coming out of Columbia (even though they came obviously from Brazil). Maybe the same holds true for these bluack aros

Yeah I don't think there were any "Colombian Blues" before the exporting ban in Brazil.

Here for the Black version supporters this in tank black looks black:nilly:

it was the price he listed so I can't complain. he didn't mention about Venezuela just said that these aren't the ones that are usually collected in Columbia and as they grow old they will have a gunmetal color. either way I got the fish at a good price so I'm happy :)
