Blue dragon?

The only "irrelevant" and "immature" response was actually a response to false claims of what the fh is. But sorry for the derail.

Like the fish in question here. Look at the face and cheeks. It's obviously got silk in it. Silk are from zz. Everything on this fish looks zz. So call it a Zz cross because that's what it is. Actual strains are supposed to have conformation to a type, and that's what they are judged against to determine the quality of an individual fish from a specific strain. It's pretty easy to understand. Nothing wrong with crossing 2 different strains to get something cool and outcross for genetic diversity, but it takes alot of breeding to fix traits into a strain.

+1

Personally if it was my fish I would call it a Thai Silk cross, but that's just me. :)

Except they aren't mutts if they have been bred into a strain that breeds true...

That depends on how one defines "true". I know commercial breeders in Florida that define breeding true as 99.9% of the hybrid offspring looking the same. That kind of purity can take many generations, and several years of breeding. Unless one has seen the parents of the FH fry/juvies, and all of their offspring from a number of breedings its impossible to say with certainty how true the strain actually is, or isn't. Certainly most that have been in the hobby any length of time can spot various characteristics from different FH types, but that doesn't always equate to any type of purity with regards to genetics.

Ive only been back for a couple days and im already being bashed on by who other than the animal.

A blue dragon is a made up name for a "blue ,green shiny" kamfa

OP call your fish "platinum dragon since your fish doesnt have the blue greenie sheen

Aren't flowerhorn jokes great :D these guys make my day i dont know about you but i get hounded on over punctuation by someone who doesn't even know the definition of irrelevant if he only realized there's tons of name's for flowerhorns most similar but classified not only by shape or genes but location and breeder many of which were bred and named by one breeder in one country then sold to another breeder in another country and named something else the only reason these fish look different is cause one took their stock and line bred for abcd out of crossing AaBbCcDd x AaBbCcDd and the other line bred for ABCD and the the process is done over and over selling and trading way before these strains get overseas

The part that you are apparently missing is if someone breeds ZZ, and sells the offspring as Flaming Arse Dragons, they are still a ZZ. Without knowing anymore about the provenance of the OP's fish it simply becomes a ZZ cross, or a TS cross as it clearly has silk in it.

That's it. Period, end of story.

LOL I don't know if I buy a flaming arse dragon pair and I've never even heard of a ZZ and I breed enough of them to enough people who are similarly unfamiliar with anything but my new flaming arse dragons...
-sorry couldn't help myself

Actually no what i'm saying is the OP's fish is not a Thai Silk cross, but a cousin to the Thai Silk the White Tiger same origin same breeder line bred for pearl and flowerline. Though i like that name Flaming Arse dragon it would sell for sure.

Except he didn't get this fish from that breeder who breeds them... and if he had he would know what it is. Nobody sees "white tiger" for sale anywhere sooo.... You need to get out of Internet fantasy land.

It's nice to see you use a comma and 2 periods gamerpond. Glad you are finally trying to write like something other than a hyperactive 7 year old.

Oh, I see. A cousin to the Thai Silk. Hmmmmmm. :)

Wouldn't it be nice if we could simply look at a fish, and define it's genetic makeup with 100% accuracy?

Until then, I think that in this case it's safe to assume that it's a ZZ cross, with IMHO what appears to be, and is most probable to be, a Thai Silk cross of some sort.
