That is awesome!, I wish you the best of luck with them...

I like the fact that both parents were both HETS, carrying the genes, I hope the babies are super strong little subs.

can anyone give me a good way to seperate my blues from the others. I dont want to stress my fish out too much. I woke up this mourning and 3 of the fry were dead. I think my regular JDs might be getting a little aggressive with the blues now and i want to get them out of the tank as soon as possible. I just cant think of a good way to seperate the fish without stessing the out. I am going to leave the blues in the 10 gallon tank they are in now and put the rest of the fish in a 20 gallon i have laying around. Any suggestions on what to use, or the process you might have used to seperate your fish would be awesome! I was thinking of scooping a bunch up into a small plastic container and then using my turkey baster to suck up the blues and put them back into the 10 gallon tank and dump the rest into the 20 gallon... I just hate chasing around the blues and then sucking them into a baster, i think it really stresses the fish out. any better suggestions??

I hate seperating day....

My method... I siphon them out of the tank and put them in a pbucket... pour a bunch out of the bucket into a scotch glass... stare into the glass and remove the ones I'm confident are not blue... then dump the probable blues into their tank...

Repeat... repeat... repeat... repeat... *yawn* repeat... repeat...

I started out "seperating" with a turkey baster but found its a lot faster to just scoup them with my fingers... Since I only scoup the non blues (which become food a minute later) I'm not so worried about a lil stress in the moment...

i started seperating today. I scoop a bunch out into a clear container and then used the baster to take the blues out and put them back into their tank. The rest went into my angels tank where they were quickly eaten. It ended up scooping 21 fish and 5 were blue so from that small sample it looks like i should have right around 25% blue as expected. I am just going to slowly seperate them over the next week until i only have only blues left. It just takes so long i dont feel like doing it all at once. Ill get some pics soon, once i seperate them!
