  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I keep some cephalopod's but not before I put alot of time into research and studying. I would not recommend anyone under any circumstance's to keep Hapalochlaena lunulata they can kill you. Only professional's in a Lab or zoo with proper equipment should attempt this. If anyone is interested in keeping an Octopus, or Cuttlefish check out www.Tonmo.com great place for all your cephalopod need's.

Wow, so gorgeous but very dangerous. I find Blue Ring Octopus venom interesting in how uniquely it affects the body in comparison to the neorotoxic or hemotoxic effects of snake venom. The victim is completely paralysed and the cause of death is suffocation. If the victim is kept breathing for long enough, the venom is metabolised by the body naturally and the victim recovers without lasting effects.

That is interesting,I've never heard about the venom metabolizing after time passes.

Every place I've read about Blue Rings says the same thing. If the person get to a ventilator they will be perfectly fine within 24 hours. However getting to ventilator within minutes of getting envenomed isn't all that likely.

Well like I said before,it was in the mid nineties when I had mine and there wasnt much info on the characteristics of their venom that I could find but yeah its gotta be pure hell trying to get to a ventilator once one has been bitten.
