Thats where he has been hiding the past 3 days, seems to prefer the real moist area vs where he was before. I can spare 20-30$ so I am gonna look into some plants make it look real nice!

I feel like I am talking to myself in this thread

Does anyone know how much these things eat? I know I got crickets from petco and there must have been 20 of them in the bag, anyway for a few days I could see most of them. Then over night its like 3/4 of them vanished and was just wondering if they truly pig out like that then take it easy for a few days or what?

I was gonna go to petco tmw and get more but I have no clue if he needs a break or what.

OK redid it a little bit. Plants are in, I hope they survive. The lighting is just your standard fish tank light tube, I figure 12hrs a day, you guys think thats ok?

The plants are a korean rock fern and Pilea spruceana

Looks good! You might want to add a large piece of bark in there for your guy to hide under. I'm sure it will look real nice when the plants fill out. He's a very pretty salamander.

I think its a little hard to find bark right now its 10 degrees outside!

I did want to get more wood though, bigger wider peices, and have moss grow on them. Then maybe add 1 more salamander and I would be set.

Looks like you are off to a great start you can also try worms they like them also .I would wait till all crickets are gone b4 adding any more also try wax worms .They eat mostly food items where they are found under rotten leaf and wood matter .That is where youll find the grubs , wax worms, and red worms, try those and he/she will thank you for it . Most of what I mentioned can be had at any fishing /bait store.

Ya I have thought about worms, but I fear they would burrow then end up dying before being eating then stink the area up.

Online wax worms are 250ct for 10$, bait stores have way less count? Im sure my fish would love them either way haha

Put the worms in a shalllow container or try putting it in front of it's face to see if it would go for it.Then you could controll what happens.

Added some bark, when its 65 outside things appear!

Plants are doing good so far, looking more lively. I wont try the moss thing for a while as I want to see how far I get with these plants. Maybe in 4 weeks Ill think about it. Its gonna end up being a rainforest if I dont control myself!

Looks really nice... yeah i'd try worms too. A cork flat or something would be good if you can't find a suitable bark piece.
