Bluegill Diet Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my pumpkinseed will eat anything. his favorite is krill and fresh shrimp. he will actually eat from my hand.

for a smaller one i would say throw in a cube of frozen blood worms. that should do the trick.

has anyone else noticed that cmj's tanks are seriously over loaded???

that's not what this thread is about. please don't derail.

1" bluegill should go nuts for frozen blood worms and frozen danphia, krill.

they should go nuts for flake food

get them eating anything for a few weeks then withhold food for 3-5 days then start putting in floating pellets, they will start eating them very quick

thanks demjor19.any idea what the tiny guys are eating in the wild? weeds/algae/microscopic organisms??lolhaha and since that seighten guy brought it up..his tank doesn't seem crowded at the moment.and i don't think it's as crowded as my tank was last night..when I had 80+ bluegill and 3 Crappies! My turtle narrowed the population down to around 40. and i'm taking 30 out to stock the pond.

and hmt321, how big are they when they start hitting nightcrawlers?

also, any idea what crappie minnows eat when they are 3"?they don't seem to go for nightcralers too..

i'm sure they feed on all of the above in the wild. they have always been very easy for me to get feeding. you really shouldnt have a problem with them.

what about the crappie?

When I had crappie back in the day, the only thing I could get them to eat was feeders.
