Dear FishGirl94
To let us help you with a possible choice on snake, we need to know a few things from you.
What size snake would you like? Length?
What is your budget on species, some snakes are cheap others, some not so much.
How big of an enclosure can you provide.
I would disagree with any rainbow boas being "hardy". I would not recommend them for a beiginner because of there high humidity requirments. Many snakes fit into a start snake niche, just need to find one you really like. Also, a snakes aggrasson is mostly up to the owner who keeps them. If you handle your snake on a regular basis from a young age and work with them until adult, most snakes will be a breeze to handle and keep. Some snakes such as rock and scrub pythons, may not calm down so I will not recommend those. No snake, know matter what the size should ever be under estimate. I have an 8 foot boa constrictor and a 7 foot anaconda and eventhough they are tame, I always take great caution when working with them.
Reptilescanada.com has a classifieds area where you can look for snakes. Also, reptileexpo.ca is a site where you can find an expo in your area, lots of breeders attend those so finding a snake should be easy
