Again, red tape and half-enforced laws have failed. Now is the time to intervene.
You, my friend, are a speciesist.
How is it not terrorism? You think these animals enjoy being chased and stabbed and dragged around bleeding and flopping in pain? Please, do explain all of the terror they aren't experiencing during their unjust and merciless slaughter. Was slavery okay? Was eradication of the jews a good idea? What about those pesky wolves? Kill 'em all, right? And here we stand, forever guilty for what we have done. You can sit all day in your voting booth with your bank account full and talk about who should do what and why you filled out this form and pushed this button or that button. You aren't helping. I'm not helping. They are still dying. You can't counter their legal and/or illegal fishing with pens and laws. The real heroes are those with resources who use them. If I had some money I'd be such a justice ninja! If somebody wires me the money, I'll do it. I'm done with college in just under two years. Then I'll have just a little time for job hunting or avenging whales, whichever comes first.

Wow, with your extreme views Im surprised you keep fish. Or should I say, Im surprised you imprison innocent fish for your own entertainment.
Like ive said, if you feel that strongly about it, join the cause and get out into the fight. Its always easy to send others into harms way. I dont agree with those nut cases but atleast they have the balls to get out into the fight.

I think that if you ever have the misfortune of having to kill someone you would revise your statement.
I won't be having that misfortune, thank you. For some reason, I seem to be stubbornly opposed to death. I can't imagine why. Oh, that's right. My most fundamental beliefs are what I have actually built on while developing my world views. How silly of me to oppose things that are evil, like killing. My bad. Gee, it's a good thing there aren't more people opposed to death. People might stop senselessly destroying each other all the time. What a tragedy that would be.

Sorry, but my views aren't extreme. They are simply based on common sense. Would I want to be harpooned, killed and served to other animals, especially when my species (whale) isn't particularly good at coping with huge losses of populations? No. And that's why I pretty much don't kill things. Except for evil little spiders. You can easily pick on that hypocrisy all day if you want, but don't forget that the average hatching eggsack of baby spiders produces between one hundred to one thousand of those evil little robots. But you'll see me tossing earthworms from the sidewalk to the grass.
I can't wait to get out there and sink some of those boats. But my wife would probably fall apart within weeks. I promised to take good care of her. Do you know anything about a real promise, or are you too busy with moral scales and justifying the world's evils to stick to one? If I quit my COTA program, I lose all credit and would have to start again from scratch. This wouldn't be a problem for someone like you, with lots of money and time, or for a younger single person, but I'll never be a dad if I can't get into this career and save up and buy a house. The wife says so, anyway, and she skillfully handles what little money there is, so I believe her. The clock is ticking. I'm not young anymore.
Just a guess, but you likely have the resources to actually get out there and help this. But since you were born and raised swimming in money, you can't actually see beyond the dollar signs into the real world, where things happen whether you throw big money at them or not.
And I take good care of my fish. They aren't being slaughtered in my care. Of course, I've lost a few now and then, but the goal is longevity and strong health. So far I'm succeeding and improving at it.

look everyone keep it civil or this will be closed this is a good thread so far and lets keep it that way. if some of you have totally different opinions state them and leave it be. don't act like third graders.

I agree with you except for one part - I have a classroom full of second and third graders and they don't act this poorly... :screwy:

Why do people act like these kind of issues are all about themselves?

Dude your talking some crazy eco-terrorism crap, seriously calm the heck out. This is why people are turned off of things like this they see only the extremes and go "that guys nuts, I dont want to be affiliated with him".

Dude, you said that these people should die, then you try and say youre opposed to killing. Which is it?

And I am firm in my belief that regardless of who maneuvered into whom, the protestors intent from the beginning was that a boat would be damaged and people potentially hurt or killed. Anything less would be seen as a failure by them. Noone reports two boats peacefully meeting at sea. They need media attention and they were willing to risk themselves as well as others.

Actually attacking the ships will back fire. You will be killing several people you'll problly deafen a whole host of local marine mammals (which will result in the starving to death). Additionally, now those ships will be protected by the Japanese navy. Sinking those ships is not all that easy either, and regular shoulder mount RPG wouldn't put a dent in one of those ships. You'd need heavy naval ordinance which is not that easy to get, for a damn good reason. Picture Somali pirates with ship killers.

If you really want to curb whaling start/join an organization that will not buy any Japanese and or Norwegian products until whaling is stopped. The countries makes a whole lot more money selling to us than whaling. Act with your wallet not your fist, or in your case mouth. If the US simply banned imports from Japan till whaling stopped those ships would be scuttled in 2 hours.

BTW while I very much hate whalers you really are talking eco terrorism in the most basic way.

On the topic of human life vs animal. Try working at a psych ward and see what was done to some of these poor people then tell me humans are any better. Sorry we are no better than them we just happen to be better at surviving.

Since you hve gone on to presume so much about me let me clarify a few things.
I was not born into money. I am by no means rich but yes, Me and my wife live comfortably - courtesy of the U.S. Marine Corps.
You see, i grew up believing in something and acted on it. As a result I have had to deal with losing people I cared deeply about and had to kill people as well. I did so on a promise, a promise I made to my country and my Marines. From this perspective I can tell you that i recognize the succession of sorrow and grief that follows just about every death. If you go and kill a whaler, regardless of what you think of him, do you not think that some innocent mother or wife will grieve? What did that loved one do to you or a whale? Is killing ever justified? Yes it is at times, and when you believe it is it should be a belief so strong you are willing to ante up.
I believe whales are amazing creatures and I do wish whaling could stop, but im a realist - these whackos arent going to stop it. Would i kill a whaler to save a whale? Hell no. As much as I love animals, no animal is worth a human life. We just have to draw a line somewhere, and thats just where I draw mine.

I think we both would chose our loved ones lives over the life of a whale. The true measure of our humanity would be how much we value the life of a stranger. Do you care more about that whalers wife, mother or child or do you care more about a whale?

The children of the wealthy typically don't join the corp.
