hows things going for ya? just wandering if you were able to treat the fungus yet?

dang dude...
i agree with a lot of what people have already said. i think creating as little stress as possible is the key now. i say salt, lots of aeration, covering the tank with something, no or little light and a fungal medication will do the trick. it's probably gonna be a good 2 weeks before he really comes out of his ordeal, but at least he is still alive and upright.
keep us posted.

ok i hate to mr obvious but his skin is torn up u might want to put some open sore chemicals in there good luck

does anyone use lids? lol.

of course it has lids, he just knocked it aside like it was paper.
i have a theory on why he jumped, since his tank is in my garage, maybe there was a cockroach walking on the lids and prompted him to jump and knocked the glass lid aside and landed him on the floor.
:irked:

i guess hes still alvie today so thats good. one day at a time.

i just did a water change, he is by himself in a half filled tank (i did this because less water= less meds used , and hopefully will be more effective).
also, i couldnt bear to see him covered in fungus so i netted him, and scrapped him with a soft, wet sponge. only then i realised, how bad his injury is. he lost maybe almost half of his scales and skin, his blue fins, and 2/3 of his tail are all gone except for his pectorals, will they grow back?

one improvement is that he gained back his previous strength, he was barely able to move 2 days ago

Large Dovii can go ape s%&$ at will and most lids arent strong or heavy enough with dovii that size, regardless of what you have on top of them. If they want out, theyll get out.

Man, lids/hoods won't do s***, if the fish is big and strong enough, it will knock it out. And if there are little holes in the hood/lid for heaters, filters etc. will jump out that way. One of my pbass decided to jump out and he went out through such a hole.

I was going to comment yesterday but figured some1 would mention it prior til today. Try asking balton777 his newly aquired festa had an large open sore and he used neosporium(misspelled). This may help your dovii out. it cant hurt.

Are you serious? That bad? That's gonna take at least a few months for him to recover.

He NEEDS a full filled tank, not half. And what are you trying to do with less meds? He NEEDS meds at full strength.

I hope that fungus doesn't come back. Myself, I have never experienced something like that. But, from what I know that fungus come back and bite you in the ***
